Dentures are the replacement of missing teeth with a removable appliance. The techniques have improved to the extent that many patients in our practice say that no one knows they have a denture. That is a huge compliment! Like any product, the quality of materials used is crucial in achieving a cosmetically appealing result.

The making of dentures is truly an art. Many of our patients are referred by other health care professionals that have come to respect the quality of services we provide. Having our own lab means we have more control over customizing your appearance as well as ensuring that your dentures fit comfortably. The materials used in our laboratory are the finest available.

Implants are a relatively newer technique.
There are 3 major indications for their usage.

1. Single tooth. No longer are we forced to reduce the healthy enamel on teeth next to a missing tooth. An implant can be imbedded in the bone allowing the dentist to fabricate a tooth as strong as the one it replaces!
2. Multiple tooth replacement. For many years the only options available to replace multiple teeth were to wear a removable partial or have bridgework that attaches to your healthy remaining teeth. Implant supported bridges are a conservative approach in that you are not reducing your natural remaining dentition.
3. Dentures. Most people that wear dentures have come to realize the many drawbacks that wearing dentures have compared to natural teeth. Implant supported dentures allow the patient a much better ability to chew and have secure feeling. Instead of floating around a patient's mouth, the dentures are very stable allowing you to chew normally and....no sore spots!

You can have a new smile with all-porcelain crowns or veneers on anterior teeth. For the posterior teeth, the latest technology in porcelain crowns are utilized to insure a beautiful, natural-looking smile.

Veneers are thin “shells,” made of tooth-colored material, crafted in a dental laboratory to fit snugly over the front side of your teeth. This relatively new technique is a cosmetic method used to restore the shape, color and alignment of a person’s smile.

A patient now has an option to close gaps between their teeth and completely whiten their smile within the same procedure, making dramatic improvements in their appearance. In many cases you can avoid the expense and time of having to go through orthodontics.

The procedure is generally two appointments. If done by a trained cosmetic dentist, the results are incredible and very long lasting.

Dental bonding is a procedure in which a tooth-colored resin material (a durable plastic material) is applied and hardened with a special light, which ultimately "bonds" the material to the tooth to restore or improve person's smile.

Dental bonding is an option that can be considered:

• To repair decayed teeth (composite resins are used to fill cavities)
• To repair chipped or cracked teeth
• To improve the appearance of discolored teeth
• To close spaces between teeth
• To make teeth look longer
• To change the shape of teeth
• As a cosmetic alternative to amalgam fillings
• To protect a portion of the tooth's root that has been exposed when gums recede

Denture relining is a procedure where the top portion of the dentures--the part where the dentures come into contact with the gums--is replaced with a new lining, which is formed to contour to the person's gum line.

A person's gum line may change every few years, which can cause dentures to fit improperly and fit loosely on the gums. Relining allows for a snugger fit, preventing the dentures from moving around or rubbing painfully against the gums. It also prevents the dentures from breaking prematurely.

• Add or replace broken acrylic flanges
• Repair broken parts
• Change a chipped denture tooth
• Replace missing teeth
• Add or move a clasp
• Add a new tooth after the loss of a natural tooth
• Add to the occlusal surface to close the bite

All patients should have a standard cleaning at least twice a year. A child should have a prophy (basic cleaning) and fluoride treatment twice a year. An adult cleaning might include an adult prophy, and/or a periodontal scaling and root planing.
